While sitting on a rock outside, I suddenly received a fully-fleshed out divinely-inspired idea from heaven. I felt it come down from above my head, and down into my body. The idea was for a proprietary share trading company based in New Zealand - essentially a business whereby you employ/contract traders to trade the firm's capital on your behalf, splitting the profits between you at a predetermined rate.

It would be the only proprietary trading firm operating in New Zealand, albeit operating in a slightly different manner to a traditional proprietary trading firm. Typically you would hire 'green' traders straight out of University, train them using your own proprietary trading strategies, and house them in your own trading room in an office downtown.

If you take the exact opposite of a traditional proprietary trading firm, you would have the idea that was given to me! I would seek out already successful equities (sharemarket) traders who trade from home, and allow them to trade the firm's capital using their own already successful trading strategies! They would then receive a percentage of the profits based on their trading performance with my capital.

I knew everything about the business from whoa-to-go, all at once, including a potential listing on the NZ stock exchange. A complete blueprint for a business plan! Each trader would receive an initial $50,000 to trade with.

There were two potential options for exiting the business, but I could only see one - the other one was hidden. However, it didn't seem important as to which option I took for exiting the business.

What was interesting about this idea is that it drew upon my knowledge and experience in investing together with my experience of running a business, to create a business based upon the business of investing!

So how did I feel after receiving this divinely inspired idea? Excited and enthused. Something I hadn't felt in a long time since my experience with Internet Brands!

A few weeks later, God put it in my heart to give 10% of my traders gross profits to charity - the "first-fruits" of the business.

It would have been approximately 1 year to the day since selling the website, www.goforex.net. This was the first and only time I have ever received a divine inspiration moment of that fullness in my life, so far! Howbeit, the funds for the startup of this business were meant to come from the selling of my first business, GoForex.net to Internet Brands.

So why I was given this idea without the means to fund it is still a mystery, unless God was always going to give me this idea at this time on my life's journey.

I now believe that God wanted to show me what His original plan was for me, but as previously mentioned, I later came to realise that the funding of this business and the business itself was tied up with first selling my site to Internet Brands, which didn't happen. The future which God had laid out for me was basically destroyed from the time that Internet Brands put forward their unreasonable offer to me, and threw me off the original path that God had intended for me.

The way I see it, there is a 'ripple effect' that occurs when someone or something doesn't do what they were meant to do, as laid out by God, and that has a ripple effect which goes on to adversely affect potentially hundreds of people!

One such example from the Bible is when God commanded His servant Moses to speak to a rock in front of the people of Israel, such that water would flow out of it. Instead of following God's command, he struck the rock twice and water flowed out of it. For disobeying God's instructions, Moses was barred from entering Israel and leading the people into the land. - Numbers 20:8-12

I looked at several other ways of funding the business including contacting the founder of Trade Me, Sam Morgan, however he wasn't interested and no other means came to fruition. I now see this as because they weren't meant to. God had an original plan for multiple people, and this didn't fit into his plan of doing things. So once that opportunity came and went, so did the original idea and plan! Timing is key.

It seems as if we are programmed to do certain things at certain points in our lives, or certain thoughts come into our minds at certain points in order to point us in the right direction. A bit like the quote I started this timeline off with, "Man's goings are of the LORD; How can a man then understand his own way?" - Proverbs 20:24. God places things in our heart or mind at certain times in order for us to follow the plan He has laid out for our lives. Certain events, people, tasks, times and dates are all laid out beforehand for us to come across, pick up, do or meet as we go along. Some might call that destiny, others might call that foreordained or predestined.

There is a great quote by Shakespeare in the play Julius Caesar which summarises what happens if one of those opportunities is missed:

"There is a tide in the affairs of men.
Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and in miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat,
And we must take the current when it serves,
Or lose our ventures."

There is an even better quote from the Bible which promises good things to those that love God:

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to (his) purpose." - Romans 8:28

I wasn't worried about all the noise in the media and the global concerns about the world economy, as I knew that my business would succeed, and therefore, the global economy was likely to improve. And, as at the time of writing this entry (Mar '13), the Dow is at record highs, global stock markets are fizzing, and the NZX has surged ahead over the last 15 months. I therefore had great confidence in the business succeeding and the economy improving, which so far has proven correct with the stockmarket seeing excellent gains!

2014 Stockmarket Update: The NZ Stockmarket recorded another impressive gain of 17.5% for its benchmark NZX50 Index, more than doubling the U.S. Dow Jones Industrial index of around 8% for 2014.

I can think of one other example in New Zealand where an idea for a business has been given by God, but this time in a series of dreams. God's dominion is over all mankind from generation to generation:
